This is a strange twist on the typical teacher sex scandal: this guy marries his 16-year-old victim, then turns around and resigns. I'm no attorney, but I'm not sure if this will keep him from being charged for his alleged inappropriate relationship with the girl, but at least he's taking a shot. Or is marrying a 16-year-old punishment enough? Here's more from the Star News Online:
A South Brunswick High School cross country coach and science teacher has resigned amid allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Brenton Wuchae, 40, of Oak Island, submitted his resignation June 13, and the Brunswick County Board of Education approved the personnel action during a closed session meeting today.
According to a statement from Superintendent Katie McGee, Wuchae and a Brunswick County student were married Monday. The marriage license says Wuchae married Windy Hager, 16, of Oak Island.
Hager’s parents had previously complained at a public meeting of the school board that officials had not done enough to alert them to a relationship between the teacher and their daughter. They said they found out about the situation through rumors.

I live on Oak Island and I am a senior at South Brunswick, I have had classes and have become friends with Windy and I had this man as my teacher when I was a freshman and if you are thinking that this relationship is gross . . .Im totally with you. No one expected this and many of us did not believe the news. I hope this doesnt reflect our area badly. This was crazy.
I don't knwo why Windy felt she had to marry a 40 year old man. she is pretty, smart and a sweet person. I don't understand why they did this, but trust me, like no one in our area is on their side.
I can tell you one thing....if my Daddy found this out about me, he would have made *sure* that the last thing I did was end up married to the guy!
Have these people ever heard of moving?!?!?!

What I don't understand is why the dumbass parents agreed to allow her to be married. You've got a confused 16 year old victim and a 40 year old predator. He's a sicko like the rest of them just smarter. The parents should be thrown in jail on child abuse charges.
This country needs God so bad.

Has anyone ever considered that maybe they actually love each other? I mean seriously give them a break. When you love someone you hold onto them no matter what people say. I don't know the happy couple but if I did I'd give them big hugs and say congrats.

Heather. You seem like a nice girl probably lonely and dreaming of a man to love you. "Daddy Issues" are as old as time itself.
This is predatory and statuatory rape. You think that man LOVES her? Wise up or you will be a victim yourself.
I go to south and although i did not know windy personally i really dont think its as big of a deal as everyone is making it. People should start looking more into their own relationships instead of scrutinizing others.
